Instructors Questionnaire and Interview Data on Task-Based Writing in an Ethiopian EFL Context
Description
This dataset contains anonymized instructor questionnaire and interview data collected for a study examining instructors’ beliefs and classroom practices regarding task-based writing in an Ethiopian EFL context. The dataset includes responses from 12 instructors to 34 questionnaire items addressing perceptions and beliefs about task-based writing and 12 items addressing classroom practices. It also contains anonymized interview responses from four instructors identified as Y, K, G, and J. The dataset includes the instructor questionnaire response matrices, the original questionnaire items and response scales, a data dictionary, interview questions, and anonymized interview transcripts. Respondent identifiers are coded to protect participant confidentiality. No student-level data are included in this dataset. The questionnaire data use Likert-type response scales. Perception/belief items use Strongly Agree (5), Agree (4), Undecided (3), Disagree (2), and Strongly Disagree (1). Classroom-practice items use Always (5), Often (4), Sometimes (3), Rarely (2), and Never (1). The dataset is intended to support transparency, interpretation, verification, and potential reuse of the research reported in the associated study on task-based writing in an Ethiopian EFL context.

Steps to reproduce
The questionnaire data can be examined using the respondent-level response matrices provided in the Instructor_Perceptions and Instructor_Practices worksheets. The Questionnaire_Items and Data_Dictionary worksheets provide the corresponding item wording, variable codes, response scales, and coding information. The interview data can be examined using the Interview_Questions and Interview_Transcripts worksheets. Interview participants are identified using anonymized codes (Y, K, G, and J). Descriptive analyses of the questionnaire responses can be reproduced from the participant-level response matrices using the response scales documented in the Data_Dictionary and Questionnaire_Items worksheets. Qualitative interpretation of the interview data can be examined using the anonymized interview responses and corresponding interview questions.
