Description

This questionnaire is part of the master thesis "Nutrient-poor meadows in the Trudner Horn Nature Park: Perceptions of different population groups regarding visual cognition, ecosystem services, and management". It was created in spring 2023 and the surveys were conducted in June 2023. The questionnaire was created with Microsoft Forms. The questionnaire consisted of 54 questions in total and was in line with the principles established by national and international regulations, including the Declaration of Helsinki (64th WMA General Assembly, Fortaleza, Brazil, Oct 2013) and the Code of Ethics. The questionnaire is divided into different sections. In the first section, the conditions for participating in the survey are explained to the participant. Section 2 dealt with the visual perception of different landscapes/grasslands of the respondents. For this purpose, different pictures, such as nutrient-poor grasslands and more intensively managed grasslands, were included in the questionnaire. In the following section of the survey (Section 3), first the perception of the importance of ecosystem services in general and then the extent to which these ecosystem services are supply by nutrient-poor grasslands were investigated. The following section (4) focused on the perception of the respondents concerning some agricultural management aspects possibly relevant for the farmers to decide whether to maintain the nutrient-poor meadows through their management. Section 5 dealt with the perception and knowledge of aspects related to the botanical diversity of nutrient-poor meadows. The respondents were asked to indicate on a metric scale how many different plant species they think grow in nutrient-poor grasslands and if they were able to name some of these species. In the last section (7) some questions concerning the age, gender, the residence municipality and the profession of the respondents (non-agricultural profession, grassland farmers, apple and/or wine growers, other professions in agriculture) were asked.
