Digital Technology Promotes Student Physical Activity : An Empirical Analysis Based on the Use of Wearable Devices

Background :The physical health level of college students is not optimistic, and most of them have not reached the recommended amount of physical activity. However, a large number of studies have shown that participating in physical activity can effectively improve students' physical health. Purpose: The study investigates the influence mechanism of wearable device use on college students' physical activity participation, promotes college students' participation in physical activity, and provides a theoretical basis for promoting the development of smart physical education in schools. Method:A questionnaire survey was conducted on 507 Chinese college students, and descriptive statistics and correlation analysis were conducted on the collected data using SPSS 27.0. Result: There is a positive correlation between the use of wearable devices and the intensity and cognitive level of physical exercise among college students. There is a correlation between wearable devices and the types of physical activity that college students participate in.

Steps to reproduce

This study adopted a convenient sampling survey method and conducted a survey on college students in various regions of China through Questionnaire Star. Before the survey starts, each student should fill out an electronic version of the informed consent form so that they can obtain an electronic questionnaire that they need to complete independently.A total of 517 questionnaires were distributed, 517 questionnaires were collected, and invalid questionnaires were excluded. 407 valid questionnaires were obtained, with an effective rate of 78.72%. The age range of the survey subjects is between 17 and 29 years old (M=21.86, SD=2.24), with 132 males (32.43%) and 273 females (67.07%). There are 42 freshmen (10.3%), 41 sophomores (10.1%), 83 juniors (20.4%), 141 seniors (34.6%), and 80 graduate students (19.7%). 184 people (45.20%) in the eastern region, 155 people (38.08%) in the central region, 58 people (14.25%) in the western region, and 10 people (2.45%) in the northeast region.
