Mitochondrial function in PBMCs of healthy donors and ME/CFS patients (CTRL + wIRA)
Description
Our research hypothesis was that heat treatment by water-filtered infrared-A irradiation (wIRA) at 39 °C for 60 minutes would lead to alterations in mitochondrial function compared to an untreated control. PBMCs from healthy donors and ME/CFS patients were studied. The following files show the mitochondrial parameters of ATP production, basal respiration, maximal response, spare respiratory capacity and non-mitochondrial respiration as oxygen consumption rate (OCR) per 1000 cells. Data are presented as mean values calculated from a minimum of two and a maximum of eight replicates per condition. The data show a higher mitochondrial function of the measured parameters in ME/CFS patients compared to healthy donors. Heat treatment compensates for these higher values and leads to an approximation to the healthy level.
