Trial crops were grown in the same size field patches. Three treatments of each crop in an experimental plot. Standard field crop planting and population sizes were used. the crops were randomly allocated to the experimental plot. The same experimental plot was then replicated in four different locations (villages). Experimental plots were monitored every morning to check for any signs of elephant presence in or around them. The monitoring was done until harvesting.
