Data from: Undergraduate students' motivation to learn and attitudes towards English in multilingual Pakistan: A look at shifts in English as a world language (System)

We investigated undergraduate students' motivation to learn English in Pakistan using Dörnyei’s (2009) L2 Motivational Self System as the theoretical framework. We additionally investigated the attitudes of the participants, and how they felt about the status of English as the official language of Pakistan and as the medium of competitive examinations. The data are from 229 undergraduate university students at three public universities in the capital of Balochistan province of Pakistan. The data are from paper-based questionnaires. The Codebook has the list of the variables. The data are in the CSV file. A copy of the data in a SPSS (.sav) file is provided as well. Appendices A through D are referred to in the article in System.
