We share high-resolution figures that present research networking of Russian borderland with adjacent European countries. Spatial scientometrics is applied for capturing the geographical patterns in inter-regional research collaboration across national borders.

Steps to reproduce
Scopus database is used to source bibliometric metadata on co-authored scholarly output and citations measured per city and region. The QGIS professional software used to plot cities ensuring precise geographical targeting of bibliometric data. Symbols are introduced for providing a clear visual hierarchy, supporting the readability of maps.
