Description

Increasing rates of antibiotic resistance have made it necessary to regularly monitor antibiotic susceptibility patterns of gram negative uropathogens in order to optimize antibiotic therapy for urinary tract infections. This dataset is retrospective data obtained from a review of the Laboratory records of the Department of Medical Microbiology, Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria. The objective of the dataset was to analyze the antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of Gram negative urinary isolates obtained between May 2016 and April 2022. The data were manually obtained and data analysis was done using IBM SPSS software version 22. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze isolates based on the frequency and antibiotic susceptibility patterns. The data presented here are helpful for the clinical management of urinary tract infections and the surveillance of antimicrobial resistance patterns of gram-negative uropathogens. In addition, the dataset will serve as baseline data for further studies on the antimicrobial resistance patterns of gram-negative uropathogens.
