Description

This data set contains the kinematic data, Matlab code, and supplemental video files underlying a study on sex-specific whole-body running kinematics. A detailed description of the data, the analysis, and each video will be available in the next version of this data set following the review of the corresponding publication. The PMAnalyzer can be downloaded under the following link: https://www.uibk.ac.at/isw/forschung/neurophysiologie-bewegungswissenschaft/software.html Supporting documentation and tutorials can be found under the same link. The Vicon data has already been formatted appropriately for processing with the PMAnalyzer. The applied PMAnalyzer settings and a customized video display function can be found in the folder "Matlab Code". The Vicon data and the files saved in "PMAnalyzer Output" are needed as inputs for the Matlab main script ("MM200814_Sex_specific_running_kinematics.m"). Besides the principal positions, which are the focus of the corresponding publication, this script also determines principal velocities and accelerations (see Federolf, Peter A. 2016. “A Novel Approach to Study Human Posture Control: ‘Principal Movements’ Obtained from a Principal Component Analysis of Kinematic Marker Data.” Journal of Biomechanics 49 (3): 364–70.) For drawing Figure 2 at the end of the main script, "Summary-ANCOVA.xlsx", the results of the SPSS analysis, need to be imported into the workspace. This file is saved in the folder "Data Analysis Output". The same folder also contains the SPSS ANCOVA outputs.
