Description

This dataset supports a systematic review evaluating black soldier fly larvae meal as a fishmeal replacement in shrimp and other crustacean aquafeeds. The dataset includes the literature search strategy, PRISMA-related information, included-study characteristics, extracted evidence tables, risk-of-bias framework, and contextual supplementary tables used for qualitative synthesis. The review focuses on growth performance, feed utilization, digestibility, immune and antioxidant responses, biochemical and metabolic indicators, gut morphology, microbiota, and environmental-management implications of BSFLM-based aquafeeds.

Steps to reproduce

The dataset was generated from a systematic literature review conducted according to PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Searches were performed in Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar using predefined search terms related to Hermetia illucens, black soldier fly larvae meal, aquafeed, fishmeal replacement, shrimp, prawns, crustaceans, growth, digestibility, immunity, metabolism, and disease challenge. Records were screened by title/abstract and full text using predefined eligibility criteria. Data were extracted into structured evidence tables and synthesized qualitatively by species, BSFLM form, inclusion or replacement level, and biological outcome domain.
