Lipoma of the oral cavity with an unusual clinical description: Clinical case presentation and literature review
Description
Lipoma is a benign tumor of fat cells that is very rare in the oral region; however, when this area is affected, it has a predilection for the tongue and floor of the mouth. They are characterized by being rounded, variable in size, yellowish in color and soft to palpation. The treatment is surgical and the microscopic study is characterized by mature adipocytes, surrounded by blood vessels and collagen fibers. Below, we present a case of Lipoma in the oral cavity with an unusual clinical presentation.

This is a 40-year-old male patient who came to the oral medicine area of the UNPHU Dental Clinic with a lesion on his lower lip. Upon questioning, the patient cannot specify the time of evolution and reports that he constantly bites the lesion and it causes him discomfort in speaking and eating properly. The intraoral clinical examination revealed a rounded tumor lesion, similar in color to the adjacent mucosa, firm to palpation, with a pedunculated implantation base, smooth surface, approximately 6mm in diameter and located in the mucosa of the lower lip on the right side. . Based on the history and clinical characteristics of the lesion, Traumatic Fibroma is proposed as a provisional diagnosis. Surgical removal is planned after laboratory studies and the sample is sent for microscopic analysis, reporting Lipoma as a diagnosis. After several postoperative checks, the patient is free of injury.
