Description

The database presents the number of cattle slaughtered with livers infected by F. hepatica for each Brazilian municipality over a period of 18 years (2002-2020), based on data from the Federal Inspection System (SIF) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply (MAPA). Additionally, data on land cover and land use are provided, considering pasture and forest area classes obtained from Collection 7 of the Mapbiomas Project.

Steps to reproduce

The data on slaughtered cattle and those infected by F. hepatica were obtained from SIF/MAPA (https://www.gov.br/agricultura/pt-br/assuntos/inspecao/produtos-animal/sif) through PDF files, which were then tabulated in Excel spreadsheets by year and municipality of registration. The raw data on land use and land cover were obtained from the MApbiomas project (https://brasil.mapbiomas.org/) based on the areas of interest (pasture and forested areas) in different geographical regions of Brazil. We selected the states in each region, collected the quantity of hectares for each region, and tabulated this information in Excel spreadsheets.
