Description
A dataset describing the use of Indigenous Crime Control Mechanisms in crime prevention in Selected Communities in North Central Nigeria. The data shows response rates from the selected communities, the preference for indigenous crime control mechanisms for crime prevention.

Steps to reproduce
A quantitative approach was used to gather the data with the use of questionnaire. The sampling procedure for the survey was purposive and a multi-stage approach was adopted . The first stage of the sampling procedure of the multistage is the selection of three states out of the six states due to proximity, and the incidence of crime, the second stage involves the identification of the three senatorial districts in each state from where a community each was selected. In the third stage, a proportional number was randomly selected using simple random sampling proportionate to each community. This sampling is to prevent the waste of time and ensure cost-effectiveness, thus ensuring the survey of the entire population, which originally would not have been possible
