Description

China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) is a nationally representative longitudinal survey of the residents aged 45 and older living in China. CHARLS aims to provide a high-quality and publicly available micro-database with a wide range of information serving the needs of scientific and policy research on ageing-related issues. Samples were obtained via multi-stage stratified sampling and the final samples fell within 150 counties of 28 provinces across China. More detailed description of the study design and sampling procedure can be found in the user's guide of CHARLS.
