Description

The carbon isotope (δ13CSOM) and nitrogen isotope (δ15NSOM) compositions of the acidized aliquot were analyzed by elemental analyzer-isotope ratio monitoring mass spectrometry (EA-IRMS) using a MAT253 mass spectrometer interfaced with a Flash EA2000 elemental analyzer. The total organic carbon (TOC) and total nitrogen (TN) contents of the acidized aliquots were analyzed using a vario MACRO cube (Elementar Corporation). All samples were measured at the State Key Laboratory of Geological Processes and Mineral Resources (SKL-GPMR) in the China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). Carbon and nitrogen isotopic compositions are reported as per mille (‰) variation relative to the VPDB (Vienna Peedee Belemnite) and atmospheric N2 standards, respectively.
