Description

This datasets comprises aerial footage of Merino sheep captured by a UAV. This dataset includes both image and video data. The video dataset consists of both a development and a testing dataset. The dataset was collected over a period of 11 months in two locations in South Africa at a height of 30 m above ground. A DJI Mavic Air 2 was used for data collection. The onboard camera has a 0.5-inch CMOS sensor with a width of 13.2 mm and the lens has a focal length of 8.8 mm. The images were captured at a resolution of 4000 x 3000 while videos were captured at a resolution of 3840 x 2160 and 1920 x 1080 at 30 fps. The image dataset comprises 125 images, totaling 4848 individual instances of sheep. On the other hand, the video dataset includes a development set with 19 videos (4521 unique frames) and a testing set with 10 videos (3045 unique frames). One video containing 250 frames can be excluded from the dataset due to inconsistencies in data representation and blurry frames.
