The foraminiferal distribution at Neolithic Daxie site, East China

Description

Here we present the vertical distribution of foraminiferal assemblage in two profiles collected at a Neolithic site on the Daxie island, East China. The results indicated that the site evolved from tidal flat into freshwater environment at ca. 4900 cal yr BP. However, the occurrence of foraminifer in the cultural layer of Daxie Phase II indicates that the site had changed into a sea-salt production site at ca. 4400 cal yr BP, which is suggested to be a respone to the relative sea-level rise at that time.
