Description

This dataset is the results of investigation of the effects of Heme oxygenase-1 inhibitor, tin protoporphyrin IX (SnPP) or zinc (II) protoporphyrin IX (ZnPP), on the analgesic effects of pregabalin and gabapentin. We also examined the effects of co-administration of SnPP with pregabalin or gabapentin on the expression of glial markers or other genes. Neuropathic pain was developped using spared nerve injury of the sciatic nerve in C57BL6 male mice. The mechanical threshold was determined by using the von Frey filaments. The expression of spinal glial markers or other genes was studied using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Heme oxygenase-1 plays a role in the analgesic efficacy of calcium channel α2δ ligands through the attenuation of glial activation and endogenous opioid release.
