Description

This repository contains tps. files of the eleven species of the genus Cyprideis from the western margin of Lake Pannon, covering a stratigraphic range from the pre-lacustrine Late Sarmatian to the lacustrine Middle Pannonian. The files are digital approximations of right female valves photographed in external lateral view using a Nikon light microscope and a Nikon digital camera. The anterior and posterior spines were removed from the optic images using graphical software. The optic images were then processed with TPS-dig software (version 1.40; Rohlf, 2004).

Steps to reproduce

To work with data it is necessary to use Morphomatica software (Brauneis et al., 2006a, b), which is based on the B-splines approach and allows the valve outlines to be displayed in a format suitable for visualizing shape differences. This method is particularly suited for smoothing and analyzing slightly ornamented ostracods that lack distinct landmarks. Coding of the folders: RV Pezinok Cyprideis alberti; RV - right valve; Pezinok - name of the locality; Cyprideis alberti - name of species. Geographical location, stratigraphical position of the localities, and species diagnosis are described in the article: Pipík, R., Gross, M. & Starek, D. Radiation of the Cyprideis species flock (Crustacea, Ostracoda) in Late Miocene long-lived Lake Pannon.
