Description

The data collection consists of eleven datasets of atmospheric krypton-85 activity concentrations with 4 datasets from monitoring stations in the northern hemisphere ("Early Measurements NH", "Freiburg", "Schauinsland" and "Jungfraujoch") and 7 datasets from monitoring stations in the southern hemisphere ("Adelaide", "Antarctica", Cape Grim", "Cape Point", "Darwin", "Tahitit" and "Terre-Adelie"). "Adelaide" start: July 2015; end: ongoing (June 2020); number of measurements: 255; location: Adelaide, Australia; "Antarctica" start: June 1983; end: January 2008; number of measurements: 415; location: near Neumayer station, Antarctica; "Cape Grim" start: April 1987; end: July 1996; number of measurements: 166; location: Tasmania, Australia; "Cape Point" start: August 1985; end: October 1997; number of measurements: 415; location: Cape Point, South Africa; "Darwin" start: August 2007; end: May 2010; number of measurements: 120; location: Darwin, Australia; "Early Measurements NH" start: December 1959; end: May 1976; number of measurements: 204; location: various monitoring stations in the northern hemisphere; "Freiburg" start: June 1973; end: ongoing (July 2020); number of measurements: 2386; location: Freiburg, Germany; "Jungfraujoch" start: January 1990; end: ongoing (June 2020); number of measurements: 1547; location: Berner Alps, Switzerland (3500 m a.s.l); "Schauinsland" start: February 1976; end: ongoing (July 2020); number of measurements: 2386; location: near Freiburg, Germany (1200 m a.s.l); "Tahiti" start: August 1969; end: November 1976; number of measurements: 18; location: Tahiti, French Polynesia; "Terre-Adélie" start: March 1968; end: October 1977; number of measurements: 32; location: eastern Antarctica; All measurements were conducted via decay counting in gas proportional counters with a measurement uncertainty of about 3%. However, for the datasets "Tahiti" and "Terre-Adélie" no errors were given in the original publications and a conservative estimate of 10% measurement uncertainty was taken. Most of the data has been published already and the sources accessible via the internet are found in the reference section.
