Description

This dataset contains the results of manual and automated assessments of instructions on first aid in foreign body airway obstruction available on English-language websites. In October 2023, Google was queried “what to do choking” (search location: London, the UK). The first 35 websites that contained textual instructions on first aid in foreign body airway obstruction were assessed for completeness and correctness of the instructions based on the 10-item “Choking” section of the ERC Research NET checklist for quality appraisal of educational resources on adult Basic Life Support [Birkun et al., 2023]. The instructions were evaluated by two reviewers independently in terms of satisfaction of each checklist item wording as True (completely satisfied, 2 points), Partially True (satisfied in part, 1 point), or Not True (not satisfied/absent, 0 points). Then, the results were compared and agreed to produce the consensual scores. Additionally, Bard (Google LLC, USA) and the new Bing (Microsoft Corporation, USA) large language model-based chatbots were prompted to perform an automated assessment of the same instructions using the same checklist criteria.
