The rate of cross-linking for Pt and peroxide cure silicone rubbers
This dataset contains measurements on the cross-linking of two silicone rubber variants (radical initiated cross-linking and cross-linking by addition) examined with differential scanning calorimetry (Mettler Toledo DSC1) and moving die rheometry (Alpha technologies RPA 2000). Differential scanning calorimetry measurements have been conducted with four different heating rates for both types of silicone rubber. Isoconversional kinetic predictions on the rate of cross-linking have been made with the Vyazovkin method based on the DSC data. Calculated data contains conversation curves, activation energy curves, and isothermal kinetic predictions. Data on isothermal measurements made with a moving die rheometer is included for comparison. The handling time for addition cure silicone has been examined with DSC, by measuring the change in enthalpy, onset, and peak values as a function of time after combining part A and part B of addition cure silicone rubber material. The data shows that the Vyazovkin method can also be used to make accurate predictions for cross-linking rate of Pt and peroxide cure silicone rubbers.
