Description

This study is an interventional study. The purpose of the study was to find the effect of structured exercise program on physical fitness, physical activity, pain and disability and ergonomics on computer users. Sample was collected using convenience sampling. The participants was screened, then through computer generated numbers, the participants were allocated to two groups. The study duration was 2 months in which the experimental group received exercise program 3 days per week for 4 weeks by the therapist (researcher) and the second month was follow up in which the participants was told to maintain a diary for the same. The control group received ergonomics advice given by Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The primary outcome measures were Physical fitness (aerobic capacity measured by Ruffier Dickson test, anaerobic capacity measured by 1 minute step test, flexibility measured by sit and reach test, muscular strength measured by hand dynamometer, muscular endurance measured by wall squat test and body composition measured by Bioelectrical impedance analyser) and Ergonomic assessment given by Indian Health Facility Guidelines (desk height and depth, footrest height, shelves height, bench support, monitor position and keyboard shelves). The secondary outcome measures are physical activity (International Physical Activity Questionnaire), Pain disability index questionnaire, Nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire and Ergonomic checklist. The assessment was done before intervention, after 4 weeks of intervention and then after 4 weeks (follow-up). The data set represent the reading of pre-intervention (denoted by 1 following the outcome measure) and post intervention (denoted bt 2 following the outcome measure) and follow up (denoted by 3 following the outcome measure). Group 1 is experiment group and group 2 is control.
