Description

In this study, we investigate patterns of soil ANF and its biogeochemical controls across multiple land uses and topographic positions in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. We report ANF rates derived from observational and manipulative laboratory experiments using 15N-labeled dinitrogen (15N2) incubations of soils from primary forest, secondary forest, eucalypt plantations and pastures sampled at three hillslope positions (summit, backslope, and foot slope). We also measured several biogeochemical variables in soils (0-10 and 10-30 cm depths) collected from those four land-use types, including total C, total N, total P, total Fe, Mehlich-3 P, Mehlich-3 Fe, potentially mineralizable N, pH, bulk density, and gravimetric water content. All the details about the soil analyses are included in the article link provided below.
