Adapted IEEE RTS Hydrothermal and Hydrothermal-Wind Test Systems for Optimal Power Flow Studies
Description
The datasets presented in this collection comprise adapted IEEE RTS hydrothermal and hydrothermal-wind test systems for Optimal Power Flow (OPF) studies. The hydrothermal test systems include adapted 24-bus, 118-bus, and 300-bus systems, while the hydrothermal-wind test systems include adapted 24-bus and 118-bus systems. These test systems have been developed and used in the authors' research on Hydrothermal Optimal Power Flow (HOPF) and Robust Hydrothermal-wind Optimal Power Flow. The hydrothermal datasets include the information required for nonlinear and conic convex optimization models, including bus and branch data, thermal generating unit data, hydroelectric generating unit data, reservoir parameters, hydraulic connections, demand profiles, and other parameters associated with the hydrothermal power system. The hydrothermal-wind datasets extend the corresponding hydrothermal systems by incorporating wind power generating units and the data required to represent wind power uncertainty in conic convex and robust OPF formulations. The accompanying documents provide a complete description of the data and modeling parameters for each test system, supporting the reproducibility, validation, and benchmarking of hydrothermal and hydrothermal-wind power system optimization studies.

Steps to reproduce
The datasets were developed by adapting the original IEEE 24-bus and 118-bus test systems to represent hydrothermal power systems. The electrical network data, including bus and branch parameters, were obtained from the original IEEE test systems, while the hydroelectric generation and reservoir data were derived from real-world hydropower characteristics and from published references cited throughout this document. Thermal generation data were retained or adapted as required to create representative hydrothermal systems. The methodology adopted to construct and adapt the datasets, together with all assumptions and parameter definitions, is fully described in this companion document. Complete information regarding the sources of the data and the corresponding references is provided throughout the document, allowing the datasets to be reproduced and further extended by other researchers.
