Using parametric modelling, shading effects of 300 urban contexts in four cardinal directions were simulated for simulation models of 11, 21 and 31 floors representing high density, high-rise residential buildings located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Effects of contextual shading, on cooling energy to mitigate external heat gain (CE), day time lighting energy (LE), solar radiation density (SRD) and spatial daylight autonomy (sDA) was simulated using Rhino5 with DIVA and Archsim plugins.
