The aim of the study is to find out the sexual abuse of girl students on social media in the Indian context. A social media-based survey was conducted for the study. Using a respondent-driven convenient sampling method, 568 girl students (Aged≥ 15 to 27) studying in different grades i. e. secondary (9th to 12th grade), undergraduate, and postgraduate, residing in the state of West Bengal, representing metropolitan, urban-municipal and rural areas, have participated in this survey. A scale developed by researchers was used to capture the girl students’ experience of sexual exploitation while they are using social media platforms. The scale consisted of 9 structured “Yes” and “No” response items. The idea of some items was borrowed from the previous study by Terwilliger (2021). When anyone was “yes” in her response then again, the respondent got the further a counter-question whether she responded or provided information against their appeal. The final section comprised 19 items which were adapted from Schenk et al. (2008). It was a five-point Likert-type scale where the options were “never”, “once or twice”, “sometimes”, “often”, and “most of the time”.
