Description

Abstract Purpose: It was planned to develop the Physical Activity Counseling Practices Scale (PACPS) in Turkish language among health professionals. Materials and methods: Interviews were conducted with 20 health professionals (physician, physiotherapist, dietician, nursing) according to the distribution in the field. The 23-question item pool created after the interview was evaluated by academicians who are experts in the field. The pilot study was conducted with 10 participants. PACPS test-retest was applied to 162 health professionals (physician, physiotherapist, dietician, nurse) with a 1-week interval. Construct validity, correlations of PACPS with other scales were evaluated with the International Physical Activity Questionnaire short form (IPAQ), Conscious Behavioral Physical Activity Scale (CBAPS). Results: The content validity index value of the scale was found to be 0.76. The overall internal consistency of the scale (Cronbach α: 0.91.7) was high. The item-total correlations of the scale are between 0.45 and 0.76. In the evaluation of the convergent validity of the PACPS, a positive correlation was found between PACPS and IPAQ and a negative correlation was found between CBPAQ (p<0.001). The intraclass correlation coefficient value of the total PACPS is 0.88. The Turkish version of the PACPS has a two-factor structure with eigenvalues ranging from 1.32 to 6.82. Conclusions: This study, it was determined that the PACPS scale has good internal consistency, test-retest validity and sufficient construct validity when compared with the IPAQ and CBAPS.
