Description

This database refers to the average NO2 concentration in the total atmospheric column, estimated by the TROPOMI sensor, clipped for Brazil and part of South America and for Italy, for the years 2020 and 2019. We used a MATLAB® code to get daily NO2 total column concentrations. The code allowed open and read the data available in an HTTPS server, maintained by KNMI R&D Satellite Observations (https://mpc-l2.tropomi.eu/archive/S5P/OFFL/NO2___/, last access: 23/04/2023). The offline data were used since these data have better quality in comparison with the near real-time data. The daily data are in the format NetCDF(Network Common Data Form), and contain, besides other information, the geolocation (latitude and longitude) and NO2 total column concentration for each grid point. As previously mentioned, they were selected the nearest grid points of the cities considered in this study. Other methodology details are presented in the text of the manuscript.
