Effect of Planting Pattern and Intercropping Density on the Quality of Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb
Description
Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb., an aromatic tropical spice crop, exhibits quality intricately linked to its key volatile constituents. Due to uncertainties surrounding the synergistic effects of intercropping systems and planting densities on these phytochemicals, this investigation implemented field trials encompassing three intercropping configurations with coconut(Cocos nucifera L.) , rubber (Hevea brasiliensis ) and areca nut (Areca catechu L.), alongside three planting density levels. Findings indicated that the intercropping of areca catechu with low planting density yielded optimal results, notably enhancing volatile compound concentrations and overall quality. This research elucidates the underlying synergistic mechanisms and offers valuable insights for the development of high-quality cultivation strategies.
