Description

This dataset is from two pilot studies that explored the effect of emotional and motivational factors on peer support in the context of adolescent smoking. Although there are available studies about adolescent smoking cessation, there is a limited study that has focused on developing prevention programs in classroom settings. Two datasets from each pilot study have collected using an online survey technique (n=102). Data collection procedures using convenience sampling from grade XI high schools student in Palembang City, The Capital of South Sumatera Province, Indonesia. We use descriptive statistics to explore the phenomenon in classroom settings in study I (n=31). In converse, we use logistic regression to predict peer support in study II (n=71). This dataset is available in two types according to the origins of respondents: from the same high school and from the various high school. The dataset is unique as there are no publicly available databases on school-based smoking prevention programs using classroom settings. It can be useful to link personal factors and daily interactions to prevent smoking behavior.
