Description

Neuropixels 1.0 and 2.0 were used to collect electrophysiological data from head-fixed mice navigating virtual reality linear environments or from freely moving mice randomly foraging in open field environments. This dataset is part 1 of 2 and contains data from two tasks: 1. The Build-Up Track; 2. The Random Environment Track. More details can be found at the preprint here: https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2023.09.07.556744v1. A link to a peer-reviewed publication will be provided once available. All of the .mat files contain the following virtual reality (VR) variables: 1. post: time bin for each observation. n_obs x 1 2. posx: position along a VR track for each observation. n_obs x 1 3. trial: trial number for each observation. n_obs x 1 4. lickt: time stamp for each lick. n_licks x 1 5. lickx: position along a VR track for each lick. n_licks x 1 6. trial_starts: trial number on which each block of trials begins. n_blocks x 1 In this dataset, each VR session is also associated with a Neuropixels 1.0 recording. The neural data is included in the same .mat file with the following variables: 1. sp: struct containing the outputs of spike sorting the data with Kilosort2. Some fields of note include the following, but see https://github.com/MouseLand/Kilosort for more details: - st: spike times, synced to the start of a VR session. n_spikes x 1 - clu: cluster identity associated with each spike. n_spikes x 1 - cids: unique cluster identity labels - cgs: cluster group for each cluster, where 0=noise, 1=mua (multiunit activity), 2: good. 2. all_maps: 2cm spatially-binned firing rates. n_neurons x n_trials x n_spatial_bins 3. clu_ids: the Kilosort2 cluster identity label of each neuron in all_maps. n_neurons x 1
