FREQUENCY OF WORK-RELATED MUSCULOSKELETAL DISORDERS AMONG DELIVERY MOTORCYCLISTS OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL FIRMS IN KARACHI, PAKISTAN- A CROSS SECTIONAL SURVEY.

The purpose of the study was to assess the frequency of Work Related Musculoskeletal Disorders among the delivery motorcyclists so that a proper study can be documented regarding the commonly occurring musculoskeletal discomforts among them so that prevention strategies and future work regarding prevention of WRMSDs in motorcyclists could be done.This study was a cross sectional survey and non- probability purposive sampling technique was applied . We used supervised standard questionnaire for our survey which included 2 sections: section A included demographic information and section B included job factors and symptoms survey checklist which had scores ranging from 0 to 5. 0 score indicated no discomfort while score 5 indicated very severe discomfort. The filled questionnaire response was obtained from 281 respondents out which 214 were mail deliverers and dispatch boys and 67 were food deliverers. Study setting included fast-food inns in Karachi: KBC, Michighan Pizza, DePizziano, Pizza Point, NewYork Pizza, Domino’s Pizza, A-One Snacks 2, The Biryani Centre and Coffee Chalet and courier services: M.P Logistics, Leopard’s Courier, TCS and Pakistan Post. Data was analyzed using IBM-SPSS version 23. Statistical tests for quantitative variables and Pearson-Chi test was used for association of variables.

The study included a subset of motorcyclists(N=281) working in KBC, Michigan Pizza, Pizza Point, DePizziano New York Pizza, A-One Snacks 2, The Biryani Centre, Domino’s Pizza and courier services: M.P Logistics, TCS, Pakistan Post, Leopards Courier in Karachi, Pakistan, delivery motorcyclists in Karachi Pakistan. About 67 delivery motorcyclists were food deliverers and 214 were mail deliverers and dispatch riders.
