Gradient-Based Geometrical Design Optimization of a Two-Bed Solar-Powered Adsorption Refrigeration System – A Comparison of Silica-Gel/Water and MIL-101(Cr)/Water Working Pairs
Description
This code can help the user to run the gradient-based optimization process proposed in this work for design optimization of a two-bed solar powered adsorption chiller for each of the two working pairs.

Steps to reproduce
1. The folders named "get_gradient_and_hessian_MIL_101" and "get_gradient_and_hessian_silica_gel" are each used to generate and save the (30 x 1) gradient vector and the (30 x 30) Hessian matrix required for each working pair for the optimization process based on the Trust region algorithm. Each of these codes are run by typing "get_G_and_H" on the matlab command prompt. 2. The folders named "opt_process_MIL_101" and "opt_process_silica_gel" are each used to conduct the optimization process based on Trust region algorithm and save the optimal design vector (Table 3 in manuscript) and the gradient vector. These codes are used to produce Figures 6-9 the in manuscript. Each of these codes are run by typing "opt_process" on the matlab command prompt. 3. The folders named "full_scale_simulation_mil_101" and "full_scale_simulation_silica_gel" are each to run the full scale chiller simulation for each working pair. Each of these codes are run by typing "full_scale_simulation" on the matlab command prompt. These codes are used to produce all Figures after Figure 12 in the manuscript.
