Description

This repository contains the applicable data and code for the results of the paper "Lipidomic composition, caloric content, and novel oxidation products from microbial communities within seasonal pack ice cores" by Holm et al. 2023. These data includes compound annotations of lipid molecules from sea ice cores on the western Antarctic peninsula as well as calculations for quantification of these compounds. If you have any questions or inquiries about this, please do not hesitate to contact me at hholm@mit.edu. Data Ice_Core_Lipid_5ppm_antd.csv: This file contains raw lipid annotations (rows) for compounds from sea ice samples (columns starting with "QE0-") . Column A designates the lipid annotations retained for analysis in the study. All units for sample columns are the integrated peak area from raw files. Additional compound metadata (columns B-T, MW-OD) includes chemical formula, retention time, adduct mass, and annotation validation information. For a complete interpretation of these annotation metadata columns see Collins et al. 2018 and the LOBSTAHS R software package: (https://bioconductor.org/packages/release/bioc/html/LOBSTAHS.html). Ice_Core_metadata.xlsx: This file contains sample metadata for ice core samples. Sample location information (filename, site, sample number, ect.) are shown in the first eight column. The length of the core segment, as well as the top and bottom depths of the segment in the total core are shown in column I-K. Volumes of the ice melt are shown in L-P. Curve_Compare.csv: This file contains the relative response factors for thirty eight triacylglycerol (TAG) standard as compared to an intact polar lipid standard (DNPPE) on the studies HPLC-ESI-MS system. Columns contain each TAGs carbon, double bonds, and equivalent carbon numbers. RFF shows the relative response to DNPPE (TAG/DNPPE) and the inverse (DNPPE/TAG). Last column lists the standards curves origin. Code Holm_2023_IceCore contains R code for compound quantification and then figure generation in the study. Holm_2023_TAG_Model contains code for modeling response factors of TAG compounds.
