Description

This dataset presents the growth performance and survival of black scallops (Mimachlamys varia (Linnaeus, 1758)) reared at the two experimental sites for aquaculture studies in the Basque Country. As far as we know, this dataset is the result of the first trial of pectinids culture in the SE Bay of Biscay in offshore conditions. Two different growing systems were tested (cages and pots) at offshore waters (longline) and sheltered waters (raft). The culture lasted 447 days. The feasibility of cultivating black scallops was determined by the measurement of growth performance (shell height, wet body and tissue weight, Table “Growth”) and survival (Table “Survival”), together with the measurement of environmental variables (Table “Environmental variables”). This work was supported by the Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment, and Fisheries and Aquaculture Directorate of the Basque Government through ZAMBURI Project [European Maritime and Fisheries Funds 00008-INA2019-33].
