Data set on unravelling the complex interactions among the factors that limits farmers away from adopting sustainable agriculture practices (SAPs): A case of Bangladeshi rice sector

This dataset identifies and validates barriers to adopting Sustainable Agricultural Practices (SAPs) in Bangladesh's rice production chain. Starting with a systematic literature review that identified 67 potential factors, it refined this to 35 key barriers through farmer focus groups and validated them with input from 78 multi-stakeholder experts, including NGO managers and policymakers. Insights on the interactions among these barriers were gathered from surveys and brainstorming sessions with 38 experts. The dataset includes a detailed data collection protocol, lists of identified and refined barriers, and methodology, enhancing understanding of obstacles to SAP adoption among smallholder rice farmers in Bangladesh. The findings are currently under review for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
