John BedfordDescription
Mechanical data files from high-velocity slide-hold-slide (SHS) experiments on granite and gabbro fault gouge samples. All experiments were run under room humidity conditions at a constant normal stress of 1.5 MPa. The gouge layers were sheared in a rotary-shear geometry; the sample diameter was 25 mm. The samples were sheared for 15 m displacement during each sliding event in the SHS experiments. The sliding velocity was 0.57 m/s. The hold time was varied between the different experiments (hold time in the file name).
