Dataset for examining whether health care is a necessity or a luxury in 36 Small Island Developing States (2000–2023).

Description

The datafile contains annual country-level panel data for 36 Small Island Developing States (SIDS) compiled for the purpose of this study. The data were separately constructed using information obtained from the World Bank World Development Indicators database and organized for econometric analysis of the income elasticity of health care expenditure. Variable definitions and all data sources are provided in the Excel file.

Steps to reproduce

Data were retrieved from the World Bank World Development Indicators database. Relevant indicators were selected for 36 Small Island Developing States from 2000–2023, merged by country and year, cleaned for consistency, and exported as a panel dataset in Excel format.
