Description
The data shows the measurement results of the activity concentrations for 88Kr and 135Xe for 3 consecutive days in an abnormal situation of the PWR. If fuel element failure occurs, inert gases and halogens leak out easily from the failing elements, and therefore, the activity concentrations of these radionuclides increase rapidly in the primary coolant. The activity concentrations of 88Kr and 135Xe increased at a specific time during the steady-state operation of the PWR. Therefore, fuel element failure was determined to have had occurred in the PWR.
