Description

In this paper, we present detailed petrology, zircon U–Pb geochronology, whole-rock major and trace element data, and Sr–Nd–Hf isotopes of the Triassic volcanic rocks in the Zhiduo area, northern margin of the North Qiangtang Block. Firstly, these data are used to constrain their formation age, petrogenesis, and tectonic setting. Combined with previous studies on the Ganzi-Litang suture, we then discuss a possible geodynamic model for the Triassic tectonic setting in the North Qiangtang Block and its implications for the Paleo-Tethys initial subduction, as well as the tectonic evolution of the western Jinsha Ocean.
