Description

Compiled chart review from hand written hospital maternity records from April to September 2015 and 2017 at a rural hospital in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This dataset includes the following descriptors: maternal age at delivery, date of delivery, gestational age (GA) at delivery, gravity (G) and parity (P), body weight of fetus (BW), length of fetus (L), weight of fetus (W), head circumference of fetus, APGAR score at birth (APGAR1) and at five minutes (APGAR2), the mode of delivery, either cesarean-section (C/S) or normal vaginal delivery (NVD), whether the mother had antenatal care prior to 20 weeks gestation (ANC before 20 weeks), the total number of maternal antenatal care visits, the maternal HIV status, whether the mother was on ART, and any complications with the pregnancy. The maternal ID and primary clinic have been removed from this dataset for patient confidentiality.
