Description

Environmental samples of the Doce River were analyzed to quantify inorganic and organic contaminants in the water and sediments obtained in two field surveys in 2019 (wet and dry seasons), in eight different sampling sites (triplicate samples) along the Doce River Basin. Additionally, tables summarizing chemical data and physicochemical parameters reported by the literature, from samples obtained until 2019, are also provided. The datasets provided herein will be helpful in understanding the potential impacts of multiple sources of contamination combined with a major environmental disaster in 2015. Two sampling sites at the Upper Doce River Basin (more influenced by mining activities): GUA (Gualaxo do Norte) and CAN (Candonga); three at the Middle Doce River Basin (more impacted by industrial and domestic wastewater): NAQ (Naque), REF (Reference site at Corrente Grande River) and GOV (Governador Valadares); and three at the Lower Docer River Basin (under influence of agricultural activities in addition to domestic and industrial wastewater): AIM (Aimores); COL (Colatina) and LIN (Linhares).
