Quantitative data extracted from two design cases Pavilion vs. Cheese Factory
Description
This dataset contains node-level quantitative measures derived from the linkographic analysis of six architectural design protocols produced by three experienced architects, each completing two different design tasks. The six cases comprise three Expo Pavilion sessions (E1–E3) and three Cheese Factory sessions (F1–F3), with 376 design moves represented across the dataset. For each design move, the dataset reports graph-theoretic and sequence-based measures used to examine its structural role within the evolving design process. Variables include degree, closeness and betweenness centrality; synchronous and diachronic integration measures; Relative Asymmetry–based measures; and T-code measures, including T-complexity, T-information and T-entropy. Separate backlink-based measures are also provided where applicable. The dataset supports the analysis presented in the study “Retrospective Integration Shift in Directed Linkography: Measuring the Temporal Revaluation of Design Moves in Architectural Design Processes.” It enables comparison between the structural importance of design moves at the time of their occurrence and their subsequent importance within the completed design process, forming the quantitative basis for calculating Retrospective Integration Shift (RIS) and related case-level measures. The data are provided in CSV format and contain anonymised analytical outputs only; no personally identifiable participant information, video recordings or identifiable design artefacts are included.
