The data collected include 68 participants’ essays or outlines in response to 2018 and 2019 TEM4 writing prompts and their self-reports of emotions in rebuttal writing classes, 136 answers to six open questions on self-perceived reasons for unsatisfying and no rebuttal writing, and entirely 115 self-reports of emotions in rebuttal writing classes.
