Insights from Key Informant Interviews on Challenges and Sustainability Priorities in the Zimbabwean Dairy Sector
Description
This data was collected through key informant interviews, where 10 experts in the Zimbabwean dairy sector were interviewed to discuss the major challenges facing the industry and share their views on what they consider the main sustainability priorities for making the industry sustainable. The data were collected in April and May 2024. The researcher then transcribed the data to prepare it for use. The key informant interviews were conducted as part of the PhD thesis in Agricultural Economics, titled "Stakeholder Preferences for Sustainable Agriculture in Zimbabwe: A Case of Milk."

Steps to reproduce
Firstly, I developed an interview guide to ensure that I covered the key aspects I needed to address in the interviews with key informants. These aspects included challenges in the dairy sector, sustainability priorities, and proposed ways to rectify the sector's problems and achieve sustainability. After that, I identified the key informants and used snowball sampling to identify other key informants. I sent them invitations through email, and for others, I had to call them on my phone. After getting the prospective participants, I shared with them a log document where they would select the date and time that suited them for the interviews. I travelled to Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe, where the key informants were located. I interviewed six participants face-to-face, and the other four I interviewed online using recorded Zoom. For the face-to-face interviews, I recorded the sessions and, after completing them, transcribed the recordings. This is how I arrived at the data.
