Description

This dataset supports the study Advancing Sustainability in Heritage Buildings: Introducing a Heritage Life Cycle Assessment (H-LCA) Framework by providing essential data on eight heritage buildings in Nicosia (Strovolos), Cyprus. It forms a critical foundation for the development of the H-LCA framework which aim to evaluate the environmental performance of heritage buildings in a manner that respects their cultural and historical significace. The dataset focuses on providing comprehensive documentation of the selected heritage buildings through the following key components: BIM Architectural Drawings: The dataset includes detailed 3D architectural models created using Building Information Modelling (BIM). These models digitally represent the geometry, construction techniques, and material composition of each building, enabling precise analysis of their structural and material characteristics. Actual Photographs: High-resolution photographs of each building are included, capturing their exterior and interior features. These images provide visual context and detailed documentation of the buildings' architectural elements, material textures, and conservation status. Geospatial Context: The geographic location and spatial attributes of the buildings are detailed, offering insights into their environmental and urban or rural settings. This information is critical for understanding the influence of regional variations on construction practices and heritage conservation. General Information: Each building is accompanied by descriptive data, including its architectural style, historical significance, construction period, and current use. This information provides context for the cultural and historical importance of the buildings and their relevance to the study. The dataset serves as the raw resource for applying the H-LCA framework . It is intended for researchers, architects, and conservationists who seek to evaluate heritage buildings' sustainability while preserving their historical integrity. This dataset offers an invaluable resource for advancing the understanding of heritage buildings, providing the foundational elements needed for integrating BIM-based methodologies into heritage conservation and sustainability assessments. It also facilitates broader research into the intersection of architectural heritage and environmental performance, enabling further development and application of the H-LCA framework.

Steps to reproduce

To reproduce similar datasets, collect architectural drawings and photographs of heritage buildings. Use Building Information Modelling (BIM) software to recreate 3D drawings based on the collected data. Document geospatial context and general building information to provide a comprehensive overview of the buildings' architectural, environmental, and historical characteristics.
