Description

The data presented in this paper relates to a clinical investigation performed to assess the change in vaginal symptoms score after a 3-months treatment with Cerviron® medical device in participants with abnormal vaginal discharge and with specific signs and symptoms. The details of the investigation are recorded with identifier NCT04735705. Value of the data: • The data is useful for the medical and scientific community involved in the management of various types of vaginitis. The medical device composition seems to provide multiple benefits by re-establishing a normal vaginal microbiome, normalizing the vaginal pH and providing an efficient local anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal effect, when applied to patients with symptomatic vaginitis. • A potential recommendation for future experiments could be represented by cervical and vaginal wounds, traumatic or secondary to surgical interventions, where haemorrhage, infection and inflammation represent serious clinical concerns or to evaluate the medical device's performance as maintenance treatment in desquamative inflammatory vaginitis or other inflammatory-mediated skin diseases of the genitalia. • An also interesting path is to confirm its antibiotic boosting effect in patients with mixed aerobic infections requiring anti-infectious treatment regimens. • The medical device under consideration seems to exert relevant changes in inflammatory parameters, that could also support faster tissue repair.
