Regression of Carotid Artery Stenosis and Complete Asthma Control with Personalised Eight Constitution Medicine Therapy: A Geriatric Case Study

This study collected both quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate the outcomes of personalised ECM therapy. Quantitative measures included pulmonary function tests, peak expiratory flow, asthma control scores, and quality-of-life assessments collected across multiple time points. Qualitative data were obtained from recorded consultations and semi-structured interviews, capturing the patient’s lived experience. Together, these data supported a mixed-methods analysis of clinical and experiential outcomes.

Steps to reproduce

Data Collection and Analysis Data were collected using a mixed-methods, single-case design with repeated measures across baseline, intervention, and post-intervention phases. Objective outcomes included pulmonary function tests conducted at baseline, mid-, and post-intervention, alongside patient-reported measures: twice-daily peak expiratory flow recordings, weekly asthma control questionnaires, and periodic quality-of-life assessments. Qualitative data were obtained from audio-recorded semi-structured consultations across all treatment sessions and follow-up change interviews conducted at predefined time points using an established interview protocol. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics, visual trend analysis, and clinically meaningful change thresholds (e.g., MCIDs). Qualitative data were analysed using a hermeneutic-phenomenological approach with participant-informed thematic coding, supported by structured data organisation and independent review. This integrated workflow enabled systematic and reproducible evaluation of both clinical and experiential outcomes.
