Description

Both Dom and Sub mice demonstrated markedly increased c-Jun (A: LSN, C: Cg) and EGR-1 (B: LSN, D: Cg) immunoreactivity following their respective social victory or defeat in the DSR test. IEG signal was markedly stronger among socially victorious Dom mice in the LSN (A: c-jun, B: EGR-1), while immunoreactivity in the Cg was more highly elevated among socially defeated Sub mice (C: c-jun, D: EGR-1). Data are presented as mean ±SEM, n=6 mice from each strain-treatment group; variables contributing to statistical significance by two-way ANOVA indicated as: DSR testing (+-p<0.05, ++++-p<0.0001), strain (####-p<0.0001) and strain-DSR interaction (^^^-p<0.001, ^^^^-p<0.0001); Dom: Dominant, Sub: Submissive, LSN: lateral septal nucleus, Cg: cingulate gyrus.
